ANGER
The official definition of anger is: a strong emotion; a feeling that is oriented toward some real or supposed grievance.

How many of us have felt angry in our lives? I believe that most anger usually masks a deeper truer more vulnerable emotion. I know this to be true in my life. True, there is the anger that comes with smashing your thumb with a hammer but I'm not talking about that kind. I am talking about the kind of anger that has you raging in your car because you're late when the real emotion is feeling embarrassed for allowing the lateness. I am talking about the kind that has you yelling at your kids when instead you are really feeling wholly inadequate as a parent. I am talking about the kind of anger that has you criticizing your partner when what you are really feeling is hurt and unwanted.

Generally, if there is anger there then there is probably another emotion underneath. My work has always been to use the anger as a flag to look deeper inside myself for something else. This isn't always easy but I always try my best. And, that's the only thing that you can ask of yourself!

"Spiritual progress is like detoxification. Things have to come up in order to be released. Once we have asked to be healed, then our unhealed places are forced to the surface."
-Marianne Williamson
